In the scientific conference on “Improving the quality of master’s theses” organized by the Institute of Postgraduate Training on January 23, 2018, it was emphasized that to improve the quality of master’s theses, it is necessary to have close and synchronous coordination with a high sense of responsibility of 3 subjects: Students, lecturers and training institutions. The Institute of Postgraduate Training, assigned by the school to directly manage the training process and take primary responsibility for the expertise and training quality of postgraduate training programs, is a bridge between students and the school, between students and students and between students and lecturers throughout the training process. In the past time, the Institute of Postgraduate Training has made great efforts in enrollment as well as training management and student management to fulfill its functions well, contributing significantly to the achievements and overall development of the school.
Drawing on the training experience of the past years, and at the same time based on the results of the scientific conference on "Improving the quality of master's theses" recently held, with the participation of many scientists, lecturers, managers, employers who have been and are participating in teaching, guiding theses, participating in the thesis evaluation council for Dai Nam University, especially based on the conference conclusion of Dr. Le Dac Son, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Trong Phuc, Vice President, Director of the Institute of Postgraduate Training, in the coming time, the Institute of Postgraduate Training will implement many solutions to maintain enrollment and continue to improve the quality of training in general and the quality of master's theses in particular. Here are some main solutions:
- Continue to promote the advantages of private universities in terms of high autonomy, dynamism and flexibility in enrollment as well as in training organization and management with the goal of improving training quality and school development.
- Adhering to the master's training program of Dai Nam University, which is an application-oriented training program to implement training activities in the direction of linking the school with society, linking training with practice, and enhancing the application value of master's theses.
- In addition to the issued postgraduate training regulations, the Graduate Training Institute will continue to develop and issue the master's thesis implementation process, including the thesis topic selection process, the thesis writing and defense process. Each process clearly defines the responsibilities of students, lecturers and the training institution.
- Build a topic bank according to master's training majors to guide students in choosing thesis topics. To increase the practicality and applicability of the thesis, the school encourages students to choose topics with a narrow research scope, related to the work the student is undertaking and the organization they are working for. The topic name must be short, with few words, clear and accurate. Determining the thesis topic must be based on a combination of the Institute's orientation, the student's choice and the consensus of the instructor. Limit changing the topic after the school has made an official decision on assigning the topic and assigning an instructor.
- Innovate the structure of the thesis in a concise theoretical direction; eliminate formal and easily copied content; focus on analyzing the current situation, giving comments, assessments and analyzing the causes; do not propose many solutions, focus on a number of key solutions, associated with solving the problems of organizations and enterprises. Each proposed solution must be based on the argument, clarify the content of the solution and organize the implementation of the solution. The thesis is about 60 to 70 pages (except for theses conducted using quantitative research methods).
- The thesis supervisors are selected from lecturers with good capacity, practical experience and especially responsibility, with expertise or research direction suitable for the thesis topic. Do not assign one lecturer to supervise many theses.
- During the training process as well as during the thesis implementation process, the Institute of Postgraduate Training, lecturers, and staff of the Institute always comply with the regulations, take students as the center, respect students, do not make difficulties, do not demand, do not take advantage of students to negatively affect the training quality, the brand, and reputation of the School and the Institute.
As a member of Dai Nam University, the Graduate Training Institute will always closely cooperate with departments and units in the school for the purpose of quality and reputation of the school. With the motto "Learning to change", the Institute hopes that after studying at Dai Nam University, students will have good professional skills, courage and the ability to adapt to the current volatile environment.
